History of the Editorial Board Members - The Editorial Board

Management of IMT
The editorial board is responsible for collecting, editing, and maintaining the IMT archives. All participating academic societies collect, review and produce technical papers with their own money and submit reprints for inclusion in the IMT archives. One of the participating academic societies serves as the secretariat and executes the procedure set by the editorial board. Other participating academic societies (participating societies) share the costs of maintaining the IMT archives.
1. Role of the Editorial Board
The editorial board is organized by editors delegated from participating societies (up to 2 people per society), who deliberate and make decisions on editing, distributing, and maintaining the IMT archives. They also makes plans for the future, manage public relations, update agreements, handle budgetary issues, approve the induction and withdrawal of members, and perform other duties.
2. Role of Participating Society
Each participating society works together with the editorial board and is responsible for producing reprints of technical papers collected and reviewed with its own money. They provide files to the editorial board for free.

More specifically, a participating society is responsible for:
(1)   delegating editors (up to two) to the editorial board;
(2)   selecting technical papers from its publications to be included in the IMT archives;
(3)   producing reprints with their own money and transferring this data to the secretariat;
(4)   proofreading reprints for inclusion in the IMT archives;
(5)   replying to questions or requests concerning reprints it provides; and
(6)   sharing expenses for editing and maintaining the IMT archives, as well as maintaining the editorial board.
3. Role of the Secretariat
The secretariat edits and maintains the IMT archives, as well as supports the editorial board.

More specifically, the secretariat is responsible for:
(1)   assisting with the editorial board meeting;
(2)   collecting and modifying reprints and incorporating them into the IMT archives for distribution, which includes:

-   making a table of reprints to be included in the IMT archives and informing participating societies of it on demand;
-   editing articles for inclusion in J-STAGE, which involves inserting a header, and adding the serial page number;
-   registering modified reprints to J-STAGE, which involves making links and a text for full text search, setting dates to open to the public, and uploading and checking the IMT archives;
(3)   receiving inquiries about the IMT archives and related issues. They will be forwarded to a participating society when it is appropriate;
(4)   sending invoices to participating societies and collecting expenses needed for the IMT archives and related issues. The editorial board will review the budget plans and reports. Different amounts may be charged to participating societies for modifying reprints for inclusion in the IMT archives because the expenses for modifying reprints them depend on the styles and formats of the reprints of technical papers published from each participating society. Other expenses will be common to participating societies and hence be charged equally.
4. Present Status
The editorial board was jointly founded by The Association for Natural Language Processing, the Human Interface Society, the Information Processing Society of Japan, The Institute of Image Information and Television Engineers, The Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence, and the Japan Society for Software Science and Technology, on October 24, 2005. The Database Society of Japan has joined IMT in 2007. The Institute of Image Information and Television Engineers withdraw from IMT in 2013. Currently, the Information Processing Society of Japan serves as the secretariat.
